Franchise Group Selling Liberty Tax Service to Canadian SPAC NextPoint for $243M

Orland-based Franchise Group today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement in which its Liberty Tax business will become part of NextPoint Acquisition’s financial services platform. Franchise Group expects to receive at least $243 million on the sale, consisting of $182 million in cash and at least $61 million in stock.

The transaction is expected to be completed in the second quarter in conjunction with NextPoint’s acquisition of LoanMe, an online provider of consumer and business loans. NextPoint is incorporated in Canada and focused on acquiring businesses and/or assets in the alternative lending and financial services sector. Read more
