Digital World Postpones Today’s Extension Vote on Trump Deal

Digital World Acquisition said today’s shareholder meeting to vote on a deadline extension to combine with Donald Trump’s social media company has been postponed until Sept. 5, which is three days before the current deadline.

The deal to combine with Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) was announced in October 2021 and has been beset since then by regulatory scrutiny and executive churn at the SPAC.

“TMTG remains committed to the merger and is excited by the possibilities we expect it to unlock,” said TMTG CEO Devin Nunes, a former Republican congressman from California. “We look forward to getting this deal done as soon as possible, in partnership with DWAC, and moving forward to the next stage of our company’s growth.”

Digital World’s last extension was approved in November 2022 after six adjournments. Read more.
