Colin Kaepernick’s New SPAC Files for $250M IPO

Colin Kapernick

Mission Advancement, a new blank-check company co-chaired by former NFL quarterback Colin Kapernick, registered with the SEC to offer 25 million units at $10 each.

Mission Advancement in the S-1 filing said it will identify, acquire and advance a company making a consumer impact, “with the aim of creating meaningful financial and societal value.”

Kapernick is the latest celebrity to affiliate with a SPAC. Baseball executive Billy Beane (of “Moneyball” fame), basketball great Shaquille O’Neal, former Speaker of the House Paul Ryan, former astronaut Scott Kelly and billionaire entertainment mogul David Geffen are among the many famous individuals involved in blank-check companies.

The SPAC plans to list on the NYSE but has not yet selected a ticker symbol. Read more.
